Universal Credits are your main currency for processing files. Each document, image, or audio file costs credits based on the type and length. You receive credits with your subscription tier.

YouTube Credits are bonus credits that can only be used for analysing YouTube videos. They're completely free for us to process, so we give you extra as a bonus! YouTube credits are used first before Universal credits for YouTube content.

Top-up Credits are additional Universal credits you can purchase separately. They never expire and are used last after your subscription credits are exhausted. Perfect for occasional extra usage beyond your monthly allowance.

It depends on your plan: Free Trial provides 50 credits one-time (no refresh - this is a 1-month trial, not an ongoing free plan). Paid plans (Standard/First Class/Summer Hibernation) reset at the start of each billing cycle (when your subscription renews) - no rollover (use it or lose it). Top-up credits never expire and are used last after your subscription credits.

Documents (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT): 1 credit each. Images: 1 credit each. Audio: 10 credits per 15 minutes (rounded up). YouTube videos: 1 YouTube credit (or 1 Universal if no YouTube credits). Generating quizzes and flashcards costs additional credits based on the number of files used: 1-3 files = 10 credits, 4-6 files = 15 credits, 7-9 files = 20 credits, 10+ files = 30 credits.

Audio transcription uses advanced AI (Deepgram Nova-2) which provides ultra-fast transcription. The 10 credits per 15 minutes pricing ensures we can sustainably offer high-quality transcription.

Summer Hibernation is a reduced-cost 'maintenance' plan (£1.99/month) for existing subscribers. It allows you to pause your full subscription during breaks while keeping your account active and your files safe. IMPORTANT: New file uploads (including QR code transfers and URLs) are disabled on this plan. However, you can still use your existing files to generate as many quizzes and flashcards as you like. It provides 50 Universal Credits per month for generation. This plan is for existing users only and credits reset monthly with no rollover.

PassMode supports 20+ formats including: PDFs, Word documents (.docx, .doc), PowerPoint (.pptx, .ppt), text files (.txt, .md, .rtf), audio files (.mp3, .wav, .m4a), images (.jpg, .png, .webp, .gif), YouTube videos, and web pages. See the full list on our Help page after signing in.

Currently, PassMode extracts TEXT ONLY from documents. Images, diagrams, charts, and embedded videos within PDFs, Word documents, or web pages are not analysed. For visual content, upload images separately as photos. We're working on enhanced media support as a future feature!

Yes! Upload photos or scans of handwritten notes as image files (JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, or GIF). Our AI will attempt to transcribe them using vision technology. Important: Handwritten notes must be saved as image file types, not PDFs. If you save a handwritten note as a PDF, it will be processed as a text document (which won't work for handwritten content). Always review the extracted text for accuracy.

If processing fails, you won't be charged credits. Common issues include: corrupted files, scanned PDFs without text layers, private YouTube videos, or videos without captions.

Individual files can be up to 50MB. For longer audio recordings, consider splitting them into smaller segments.

You can select one or more difficulty levels when generating quizzes or flashcards. Easy focuses on basic recall and definitions (e.g., 'What is X?'). Medium tests application and understanding (e.g., 'How does X work?'). Hard requires analysis and synthesis (e.g., 'Compare X and Y and analyze their relationship'). Selecting multiple levels gives you comprehensive coverage - a mix of fact checks, application questions, and deep analysis. Each question is tagged with its difficulty level so you know what skill it's testing.

Quizzes are generated from your uploaded content using AI. While highly accurate, always review questions before using them for serious study. AI may occasionally misinterpret information.

Yes! Once files are uploaded and processed (which costs credits), you can generate as many quizzes and flashcards as you need from those files (each generation costs additional credits based on file count: 10-30 credits). This allows you to create different quiz types or difficulty levels without re-uploading your content.

Annual plans save you 20% (equivalent to 2 months free). Both monthly and annual plans receive the same monthly credit allowance. Annual plan credits refresh every 30 days from your signup date, not when the year renews. Annual subscribers also get free Summer Hibernation benefits included (ability to preserve data during breaks).

Yes! You can cancel anytime from your dashboard (Credits & Billing → Manage Subscription). You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period. No refunds for partial months, but you keep your credits until the period ends.

If you cancel your subscription, you'll revert to the Free tier with 0 credits. Your files and sessions remain accessible indefinitely - they are NOT automatically deleted. You can continue to view your uploaded files and generate from them if you purchase credits or upgrade again. Annual subscribers can downgrade to Summer Hibernation (£1.99/month) to keep generating without losing access. If you want to completely remove your data, you must delete your account via Settings.

Our pricing is already optimized for students! We keep costs low by using efficient AI models. For groups of 10+ students, contact us about Team pricing which includes volume discounts.

Currently PassMode is designed for individual use. We're working on Team features for study groups, societies, and institutions. Contact us for group pricing!

Yes! Your uploaded content is private and encrypted. We use row-level security to ensure users can only access their own data. We never share or sell your information. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Currently you can view and practice within PassMode. Export features (PDF, Anki, CSV) are planned for a future update. You can print quizzes directly from your browser in the meantime.
